Babson Again Named the Nation's Top Entrepreneurship College by The Princeton Review and Entrepreneur Magazine
Babson's Undergraduate School ranked No. 1, Graduate School ranked No. 2 for Entrepreneurship
BABSON PARK, Mass., Sept. 19, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Babson College today announced that it has been recognized by The Princeton Review and Entrepreneur magazine as the No. 1 undergraduate school in the nation for Entrepreneurship and the No. 2 graduate school in the nation for Entrepreneurship.
These results follow rankings by U.S. News & World Report earlier this year that recognize Babson as the top undergraduate school in Entrepreneurship for the 17th consecutive time and the top graduate school in Entrepreneurship for the 20th consecutive year.
Babson's leadership in Entrepreneurial Thought and Action® provides a foundation for the long-term success of its graduates, as recognized by PayScale's recent ranking of Babson as one of the top five colleges in the U.S. for midcareer earnings of alumni.
"These well-earned accolades are testament to the commitment of the Babson community to educate and prepare entrepreneurial leaders who create economic and social value everywhere," said Babson President Kerry Healey. "As we celebrate this recognition, we continue to introduce new and innovative ways to teach and advance entrepreneurship of all kinds."
Babson is building upon its position as the world leader for Entrepreneurship of All Kinds™ with numerous new efforts and initiatives at the undergraduate and graduate levels, including:
- Launching a new master's degree program in Entrepreneurial Leadership. At the Graduate level, Babson is now accepting applications for the inaugural class of its new Master of Science in Management (MSM) in Entrepreneurial Leadership, which will begin in September 2014. This nine-month program prepares students to lead with confidence, creativity, and a focus on people, profits, and the planet. The innovative curriculum is built so both business and nonbusiness undergraduate majors may actively participate in, and benefit from, the hands-on curricular experiences, in and out of the classroom.
- Establishing the first incubator program for women. Through Babson's Center for Women's Entrepreneurial Leadership, Babson has established The Women Innovating Now Lab (The WIN Lab), a unique, yearlong program designed to empower women students and alumnae to build their entrepreneurial ventures.
- Rolling out a completely revised version of the renowned yearlong Foundations in Management and Entrepreneurship (FME) class in which teams of first-year students conceive of, launch, and manage a company. Students now work in smaller teams, and receive far more training than ever before in management and teamwork issues.
About The Princeton Review and Entrepreneur Rankings
Based on surveys sent to school administrators at more than 2,000 institutions from April to June 2013, the lists recognize 50 programs—25 undergraduate and 25 graduate—for their excellence in entrepreneurship education. The Princeton Review has reported these lists annually since 2006 in partnership with Entrepreneur Media Inc., publisher of Entrepreneur magazine.
The Princeton Review chooses the schools based on a wide range of institutional data it evaluates for this project. Colleges are asked about the levels of their commitment to entrepreneurship inside and outside the classroom, the percentage of their faculty, students, and alumni actively and successfully involved in entrepreneurial endeavors, the number of their mentorship programs, and their funding for scholarships and grants for entrepreneurial studies and projects.
The top entrepreneurship program lists are posted on The Princeton Review's website at www.princetonreview.com/entrepreneur. Entrepreneur also has posted a feature on the ranking lists on its website at www.entrepreneur.com/topcolleges. The magazine's feature article will appear in its October issue, available on newsstands September 24.
The Princeton Review, which is not affiliated with Princeton University and not a magazine, also reports annual rankings of graduate business schools in 11 categories in its annual guide, The Best 295 Business Schools, the 2014 edition of which goes on sale October 9.
