Authors DuFour and Fullan reveal how to achieve continuity, balance within PLC
BLOOMINGTON, Ind., May 1, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Solution Tree, a professional development and consulting company for K–12 educators, announces a groundbreaking new title on professional learning communities (PLCs).
The PLC at Work™ process is increasingly recognized as the most powerful strategy for sustained school improvement. PLCs are driven by three big ideas: focus on learning, build a collaborative culture, and create a results orientation. Becoming a PLC is an ongoing process in which educators work collaboratively in recurring cycles of collective inquiry and action research to achieve better results for the students they serve.
Cultures Built to Last, written by Richard DuFour and Michael Fullan, two of the most widely respected authors in the field of education, builds on the original concept of PLCs by outlining a road map for sustainable school improvement that begins with a systemic approach.
"A benchmark title for Solution Tree, Cultures Built to Last represents the culmination of our authors' latest work on PLCs and is an engaging way to re-envision the collaborative process," says Ed Ackerman, president and COO of Solution Tree.
"DuFour and Fullan lay out, in a clear and compelling way, what needs to be done to move from isolated and transient pockets of excellence to excellence at the system level—to not only achieve excellent outcomes for students, but also to continue to improve to meet future challenges," says Dylan Wiliam, consultant and author.
The book, now available for preorder from Solution Tree, provides educators with the tools to support their PLCs while transforming the culture of the education system.
