The film marks Kellan Lutz and Ashley Greene's first starring roles, and fans are thrilled. Over the past few months, "Twilight" and "Glee" fans have taken to Twitter, Facebook and other social media sites to express their excitement for the film's release. DVD will be available at WalMart, Blockbuster, Hastings, Family Video, and many other major retailers. The DVD also includes a behind-the-scenes look at the film and interviews with Lutz, Greene, Adam Beach, and Gabrielle Anwar, as well as director Mike Sears.
Best known for their roles as Emmett and Alice Cullen in the "Twilight" movies, Lutz and Greene's incredibly moving performances in "A Warrior's Heart" have been getting a landslide of glowing comments. Producers Steven Istock and Marc Spizzirri describe the movie as "a heartfelt family-friendly teen love story."
In shock and denial over his Marine father's death overseas, high school lacrosse star Conor Sullivan starts acting out in self-destructive ways until he is kicked off the team and sent to a wilderness lacrosse camp run by his dad's Native-American combat buddy (Adam Beach). With support from his new love (Ashley Greene), Conor embraces the game's deeper roots and opens his eyes to the true meaning of sportsmanship and life.
Though the film is at its core a romantic story of triumph over adversity, it also focuses on the growing sport of lacrosse and contains fantastic sports-action sequences. Kellan Lutz and co-star Chord Overstreet (best known as Sam Evans on "Glee"), undertook arduous training in order to star as champion lacrosse players. Major League Lacrosse has recognized "A Warrior's Heart" as the first film to use the sport (and its Native-American origins) as not only a backdrop, but as the character-building game that lacrosse fans have identified with for years.
"This is a movie the whole family can watch together," said producer Istock. "It's a date movie, a feel good movie, and a sports movie... fans of Kellan Lutz and Ashley Greene will be especially delighted."
