ORLANDO, Fla., April 20, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Foundation is partnering with Olive Garden so parents and their kids can make the most of Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day. Carolyn McKecuen, executive director of Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Foundation and Theresa Willings, Olive Garden Senior Vice President of Human Resources, invites parents to participate on Thursday, April 23, 2015, and come to Olive Garden for a free children's menu item for every adult entree purchased that day.
Dear Parents:
Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day, on April 23, is an opportunity for parents to bond with their children while inspiring them to think about their career possibilities in a hands-on and interactive environment.
Children participating in Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day gain career mentorship, develop leadership skills and form deeper appreciation for the workforce. In fact, alumni have shared how their participation as kids inspired them to choose their current career paths.
But it doesn't stop there. Many of the participating families use this day as an opportunity to talk about their experiences and further connect over a meal together. Research has shown that kids who share regular meals with their parents perform better at school and report feeling closer to their parents. That's why we invite you to come to Olive Garden on April 23 to receive a free kid's meal with the purchase of an adult entree and make your time together extra special.
Olive Garden and Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Foundation have partnered since 2012. Incredibly, over 37 million family members participated in Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day in 2014 at more than 3.5 million workplaces. Our hope is that this year even more parents and kids get the opportunity to spend this meaningful day together.
We look forward to celebrating with you and your family.
Best,
Carolyn McKecuen & Theresa Willings
