Atlantic City Opens For Business As Locals And Visitors Turn To Social Media To Show Their Support
New Blog, "Can-Do AC" Serves as Both a Source of Information and Inspiration
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J., Nov. 5, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- You can't hold Atlantic City down for long. It is a city with a history rivaled only by its heart. As the entire community rallies together to pick up the pieces after Hurricane Sandy, a new blog, called "Can-Do AC," (http://candoac.tumblr.com/) has been created to document and celebrate the efforts to facilitate a quick and complete recovery.
As city authorities began the clean-up efforts immediately after the storm, the Atlantic City Alliance (ACA) began posting photos of workers clearing debris, as well as images of the intact and undamaged famed Atlantic City Boardwalk. With an accompanying Twitter handle of #CanDoAC, these social media tools have become a way for locals to stay engaged with the recovery efforts in Atlantic City, as well as a source of inspiration for lovers of the beach-side destination to show their support.
"We knew we needed a quick and efficient way to communicate visually how Atlantic City is faring in the wake of Hurricane Sandy," says Liza Cartmell, President of the Atlantic City Alliance. "By creating a place for people to actually see the progress, we hope to ease any concerns people may have about the overall recovery period, and also create a space where people can be inspired by the irrepressible spirit of Atlantic City and its citizens."
