LITTLE ROCK, Ark., March 1, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Arkansas Virtual Academy (ARVA), a tuition-free, online public school option, has opened enrollment for the fall of 2016 school year. The school has served students statewide since 2007 and the 2016-2017 academic year marks the first time the school has opened enrollment for all grades, including twelfth grade. ARVA takes an individualized approach to learning, combining online instruction and hands-on curriculum with the support of Arkansas-licensed teachers who are available online and by phone.
To help parents and children learn more about the program, ARVA will host events in communities across the state, including Little Rock, Springdale, Jacksonville, Fort Smith, Heber Springs, Fayetteville, as well as several online information sessions. These events will provide an opportunity to speak with teachers, school staff and currently enrolled families to learn about how children succeed with ARVA. Parents can find more information on these events at www.k12.com/arva.
"At ARVA, we strive to create a balanced approach in educating our students," said Dr. Scott Sides, Head of School at Arkansas Virtual Academy. "Our school provides an excellent choice for families who are interested in being actively involved in their children's education. "
Students who enroll in ARVA receive an individualized education experience, designed to let students find the learning style that works best for them. Students use web-based lessons and hands-on instructional materials that are shipped to their home.
"We chose Arkansas Virtual Academy because it allows me to give my son the learning environment in which he can best concentrate," said Michelle Ham, whose son is a second grader at ARVA. "He is very bright and is excelling with online education."
ARVA provides courses in language arts/English, math, science, history, world languages, art and music for students in grades K-8, while the high school program offers students both core and elective options including Advanced Placement® courses, up to three levels of world languages, and a number of career-focused options. At ARVA, college- or career-minded students can gain a competitive edge for the future, discover their path after high school or explore a possible college major.
