Ardent Mills hosts Charity Golf Tournament Benefitting Food Bank of the Rockies
440,000 meals made possible through this single-day event
DENVER, June 19, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Ardent Mills, the premier flour-milling and ingredient company, joined forces with many of its vendors, suppliers and carriers by raising $110,000 to benefit Food Bank of the Rockies through its sixth annual charity golf tourney, held for the first time in Colorado at the Riverdale Golf Courses in Brighton this week.
"As promised when we announced that we were coming to Denver, we are nourishing the communities where we live and work. Our partnership with Food Bank of the Rockies is a tangible example of our value of serving. We began teaming with the food bank last summer before we fully established our headquarters operation here. Through these efforts, we help to guarantee meals for those who are having a tough time with basic food needs," says Dan Dye, Chief Executive Officer of Ardent Mills.
Food Bank of the Rockies President and CEO Kevin Seggelke notes, "Our food bank serves over 411,000 individuals every year and it's fundraisers like this that help us expand our outreach even further. Often, people don't understand just how much poverty exists around them when they are not immersed in it – over 70% of the people we serve live at or below the poverty line. Ultimately, a fundraiser isn't important solely to generate revenue, but also to raise awareness about poverty and hunger."
The annual charity golf tourney began in 2010 by two ConAgra Foods businesses – ConAgra Mills and Spicetec Flavors & Seasoning (SFS) – raising over $500,000 in the prior five years. Bill Stoufer, Ardent Mills Chief Operating Officer shares, "Numerous Ardent Mills team members volunteered to make this event a success for the food bank and in celebration of our first year in business. We are proud to continue this powerful effort and to make a difference in the lives of thousands of people along the Front Range."
Later this summer, Ardent Mills will be hosting a Food Drive to Kick Hunger where fans will be encouraged to bring non-perishable food items or cash donations to a Colorado Rapids game to support Food Bank of the Rockies.
