BOSTON, March 16, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Apperian® Inc., the mobile application management (MAM®) and security company, today announced that a secured mobile tablet solution it has developed with Secusmart GmbH, a BlackBerry subsidiary, has received preliminary security certification by the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) for the security level "Restricted." The solution, led by Secusmart and named SecuTABLET, runs on a variety of form factors and creates a combined app and device security posture in which protected apps can be run on commercially available, off-the-shelf Samsung mobile devices running the Android operating system.
By combining Apperian's innovative mobile application management and security platform with the advanced cryptography capabilities of the Secusmart Security Card, customers can run mission-critical applications with complete data-in-motion, data-at-rest, data-in-use encryption, and additional security capabilities that protect from operating system and app-based risks. By applying the security and management policies at the app binary level, organizations can avoid having to source apps that have to be coded specifically for governmental use, and that trigger security review processes whenever new app versions are released. This allows agencies to be more agile and flexible in deploying mission specific solutions within the constraints of given security mandates.
"The BSI Certification by the German cyber security authority is another important milestone in validating Apperian's government-grade mobile security capabilities," said Brian Day, President and CEO of Apperian. "Together with Secusmart, Apperian is enabling a flexible, modular approach that utilizes readily available hardware and mobile apps so that organizations can capitalize on the rapid innovation on mobile platforms."
In 2015 the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) granted Apperian with an Authority to Operate (ATO) which, similar to the BSI certification, cleared the way for Apperian technology to enable DHS's mobile strategy.
