LONDON, Jan. 12, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Anytime Fitness, the world's fastest-growing fitness franchise, today announced the opening of its 100th gym in the United Kingdom. The newest UK gym is located five miles northwest of London, in Ladbroke Grove.
The UK now becomes the fifth country with at least 100 Anytime Fitness gyms. The other countries include the United States (2,250 gyms), Australia (447), Japan (178) and Canada (150). Globally, 3,466 Anytime Fitness gyms are located in 26 countries on five continents.
TOP GLOBAL FRANCHISE
Averaging 300 news gyms each year since 2007, Anytime Fitness will almost certainly be ranked the #1 fastest-growing fitness franchise in the world for 10 consecutive years at the end of 2017. That extraordinary international growth, coupled with the company's financial strength and stability, prompted Entrepreneur magazine to honor Anytime Fitness as the "#1 Top Global Franchise" two years in a row: https://www.entrepreneur.com/franchises/topglobal
MORE MILESTONES ON THE HORIZON
Within the next few weeks, Anytime Fitness expects to surpass 3,000,000 members worldwide. By the end of the year, it's possible that the company could also open its 4,000th franchised gym. Anytime Fitness reached 3,000 franchised units in fewer years (13) than other franchising giants like Subway (15), McDonald's (20) and Dunkin' Donuts (37). Additionally, Anytime Fitness achieved more than one billion dollars in system-wide revenue in each of the last two years.
"We are extremely proud that the Anytime Fitness concept has been so well received around the world and that we can make a positive impact on the lives of millions of people globally," said Chuck Runyon, CEO of Anytime Fitness. "Our goal is to be the number one fitness chain in every market we enter, in terms of number of locations, and we are well on our way to reaching that milestone in every country."
Founded in 2002, the first Anytime Fitness gym opened in Cambridge, MN. Less than 15 years later, there are now more than 1,000 Anytime Fitness gyms located outside of North America.
"The key to our growth has been our dedicated and passionate franchisees in each of the countries we serve," said Dave Mortensen, President of Anytime Fitness. "They carry the Anytime Fitness flag proudly and are committed to making a difference in people's lives. What's really exciting is to look ahead and see the massive growth potential still remaining for our brand, both in our existing markets and future markets. The future opportunity is enormous."
Regarding the 100th gym to open in the United Kingdom, Andy Thompson, Chairman of Anytime Fitness UK, could not be happier.
"The work and effort put in by the whole Anytime Fitness family is remarkable and we are now seeing the rewards," said Thompson. "The franchise sector contributes more than £15.1bn to the UK economy and we are delighted that our business is a big contributor to that figure. Our members can use any of the 100 gyms in the UK, and other countries, for one monthly, affordable fee. The clubs are all open 24/7."
