LOS ANGELES and PALO ALTO, Calif., Sept. 30, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Anonymous Content, the management and production company responsible for such critically-acclaimed and commercially successful films and TV series as "Spotlight," "The Revenant," and "Mr. Robot," has received a substantial minority investment from Emerson Collective, the organization founded and run by Laurene Powell Jobs.
Emerson Collective's investment, terms of which will not be disclosed, positions Anonymous Content for significant growth across all its related businesses, including film, television, commercial and digital content production, as well as talent management. There will be a particular focus on expanding the firm's efforts in producing socially-relevant content aimed at inspiring change, an agenda central to the Emerson Collective mission. Anonymous Content has emerged in recent years as a leader in the management and production arena, and this new relationship with Emerson Collective is designed to yield projects and other opportunities attractive to artists and executives interested in using the power of media to advance social change.
"It is an honor for Anonymous Content to be partnering with Laurene Powell Jobs and the Emerson Collective team," said Anonymous Content founder and CEO Steve Golin. "Emerson Collective shares our commitment to creating high-quality content that both entertains and inspires, and we are eager to help further their bold initiatives. Our partnership will expand opportunities for our clients and Anonymous Content to highlight issues of social justice and produce projects that can serve as agents of change."
"Emerson Collective believes in the power of storytelling to shape our culture and improve lives," said Powell Jobs, president of Emerson Collective. Emerson Collective will be represented on Anonymous Content's Board of Directors. Anonymous Content's operations will continue to be directed by Golin and fellow partners Michael Sugar, Doug Wald, Eric Stern, and Diane Janicki.
Founded by Golin in 1999, Anonymous Content consists of four major divisions—TV production, motion picture production, talent management, and commercial and branded short-form content production. With more than 500 leading actors, writers, and directors on its management roster and dozens of feature films and TV series to its credit, Anonymous Content's clients and projects have been honored with numerous Academy Awards, Emmys, Golden Globes, Tony Awards, Pulitzer Prizes and other prestigious accolades, including the 2016 Oscar for Best Picture, which went to "Spotlight." Earlier this year, Anonymous Content became the first independent production company to win Golden Globe awards for Best Picture ("The Revenant") and Best Television Series ("Mr. Robot") in the same year. In addition to "Mr. Robot" on the USA Network, "The Knick" on Cinemax, and "True Detective" on HBO, the company has more than a dozen TV series orders for the coming year, including Netflix's "The OA" and "13 Reasons Why," Amazon's "Good Girls Revolt," TNT's "The Alienist," Epix's "Berlin Station" and Starz's "Counterpart."
Emerson Collective, which takes its name from the Transcendentalist author Ralph Waldo Emerson, is dedicated to removing barriers to opportunity so people can live to their full potential. It believes that only through building more equitable education and immigration systems, confronting poverty and injustice, and addressing the challenges of a changing climate will we see the true promise of people across America and beyond. As a cornerstone of its work, Emerson Collective believes in harnessing the power of media to shape our culture and inspire change. In recent years, it has supported a number of films that have tackled pressing social issues, and is also the lead investor in MACRO, a media company focused on producing content for the African-American, Latino and multicultural markets.
