Senate Bill 179, Commonly known as "David's Law" Continues to Drive Adoption in K-12
Company continues expansion as it Now Supports Senate Bill 968, requiring Universities to also have a system for Students to Electronically Report Sexual Assault and other Issues.
DALLAS, Dec. 20, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- STOPit, which provides a comprehensive, anonymous software communication platform that mitigates and deters harassment, bullying, sexual assault and crime today announced it has seen continued growth in the state of Texas. The app and software is now used in over 340 schools in 100 districts in Texas, adding to the community of thousands of schools nationwide.
With the click of a button in the STOPit app, students can anonymously share incidents of cyber-abuse with school administrators in real time – along with photographs, videos, screenshots or other documentary evidence that may be relevant. When reports are filed, school administrators are notified immediately so that they can address the issue and, when necessary, anonymously gather more information from the person who reported the incident.
STOPit is proven to deter misconduct in schools nationwide by empowering witnesses to report harassment and reduce documented incidents by as much as 50% the first year the platform is implemented. The mere existence of STOPit in a school community immediately forces bullies to think twice before posting. Some schools in Texas using the program include Pampa Schools, Clarendon ISD, Big Spring ISD, and Lindale ISD.
The law causing major adoptions throughout the state is David's Law, which requires each school to make it possible for students to anonymously report an incident of any type of bullying, including cyberbullying. The Law goes on to require an incident management process for the administrators of the schools, which STOPit's DOCUMENTit component supports.
STOPit's solutions are used by an expanding number of new verticals as the power of anonymous reporting and 2-way communication is becoming recognized an important component of eliminating behavior risks. In addition to schools, colleges, and corporations STOPit recently partnered with Somerset County in New Jersey, to take on the opioid crisis by working with law enforcement, and with the Peoples Improv Theater in New York, to protect staff, students and performers in the entertainment industry.
