On July 23, 2014, Verizon Communications Inc. (Verizon) announced eleven separate private offers to exchange specified series of debt securities issued by Verizon and its indirect subsidiary Alltel Corporation, for new debt securities to be issued by Verizon. The exchange offers consist of offers to exchange the 2.500% notes due 2016 and 3.650% notes due 2018 of Verizon, for new notes due 2020 of Verizon, provided that the principal amount of new notes due 2020 shall not exceed $2.0 billion. The exchange offer also includes offers to exchange 7.350% notes due 2039, 7.750% notes due 2032, 7.750% notes due 2030, 6.400% notes due 2033 of Verizon, 7.875% debentures due 2032 and 6.800% debentures due 2029 of Alltel Corporation, for new notes due 2046 of Verizon, provided that the principal amount of new notes due 2046 shall not exceed $4.5 billion. The exchange offers also comprises of offers to exchange the 6.550% notes due 2043, 6.900% notes due 2038, and 6.400% notes due 2038 of Verizon, for new notes due 2054 of Verizon, provided that the principal amount of New Notes due 2054 shall not exceed $5.5 billion. On July 24, 2014, Baidu, Inc. (Baidu) announced its unaudited financial results for Q2 2014. The Company reported Q2 2014 total revenue of RMB11.99 billion, up 58.5% YoY, primarily contributed by online marketing revenue of RMB11.8 billion, which increased 57.0% YoY. The Company surpassed Wall Street analysts' expectations of RMB11.98 billion for Q2 2014 total revenue. Net income attributable to Baidu during the period increased to RMB3.5 billion or diluted EPS per ADS of RMB10.09, from RMB2.6 billion or RMB7.52 per ADS in Q2 2013. Baidu posted non-GAAP diluted EPS per ADS for Q2 2014 of RMB10.72. On average, 10 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected Baidu to report earnings of RMB8.19 per share for the quarter. Baidu expects Q3 2014 total revenue to fall between RMB13.4 billion and RMB13.8 billion, representing a YoY increase of 50.9% to 55.0%. Frontier Communications Corporation Research Reports
On July 25, 2014, Frontier Communications Corporation (Frontier) announced that it has received approval form the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for its planned acquisition of AT&T's local wireline, broadband and video operations in Connecticut. Frontier has also received Justice Department approval, and is presently seeking approval from the Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA). The Company anticipates closing the Connecticut acquisition in Q4 2014, pending PURA approval. Frontier intends deploying broadband of at least 10 Mbps download speed to 100,000 potential customers, as well as upgrading its middle mile network.
