Angelique X. Irvin to Keynote Women in Optics Presentation at SPIE Defense, Security and Sensing Conference & Exhibition
PHILADELPHIA, March 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Angelique X. Irvin, President & CEO of Clear Align, an electro-optic systems company focused on custom imaging, fiber optic and laser sensors for military and aerospace applications, will keynote the SPIE Defense, Security and Sensing Conference's Women in Optics meeting on April 6, 2010.
"This is an opportunity to share my experiences in the world of optics with others and to emphasize the cultural and operational subtleties that drive innovation and are so often overlooked," said Irvin.
Irvin's presentation, titled, Fueling Technical Innovation, Culture and Tactics Learned from Bell Laboratories, will focus on her time at AT&T Bell Laboratories, during which Irvin led a team that was centered on improving technology commercialization from the labs during its prime years and reported to the Board of Directors. Irvin brings over 25 years of professional experience focused on technology-driven businesses. Her experience includes successful corporate and entrepreneurial business launches at companies including Clear Align, Coviant, NEC, AT&T Microelectronics, and AT&T Bell Laboratories. She led a team at Bell Laboratories that built out optical assembly facilities and developed new markets for a $500 million product line.
"Working in an industry that is so dynamic and complex can be difficult. The key is to stay ahead of the curve with a combination of operational tactics and behavioral and cultural changes. As a result of this effort, our development team consistently delivers technology innovation ahead of the development curve creating far more novel patents and process innovation compared with comparable companies. We are one of the few companies having to discard good ideas due to the plethora of innovative concepts in our midst."
This talk is designed to support managerial development of leaders supporting research and development organizations. Both men and women are encouraged to attend Irvin's presentation that will take place on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 from 4:30 - 6:00 pm during the Defense, Security and Sensing Conference's Women in Optics meeting at the Marriot World Center in Orlando, Florida.
