Andrew Ibbotson Named One of Atlanta's 40 Under 40 Business Leaders
ATLANTA, Nov. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Digital Assent, a fast-growing healthcare media and marketing company headquartered in Atlanta, today announced that company founder and CEO Andrew Ibbotson has been named to Atlanta's "40 Under 40" class of 2012 by the Atlanta Business Chronicle.
Each year, the Atlanta Business Chronicle's 40 Under 40 Awards spotlight forty people under the age of forty who are considered to be the next generation of Atlanta's business and community leaders. Last night's exclusive event at the Atlanta History Center honored this year's award winners for their significant career achievements in 2012 and their substantial contributions to the Atlanta community.
Since launching the company's tablet-based PatientPad® solution in January of 2011, Andrew has raised $12 million in financing from Georgia investors, recruited a team of experienced early-stage executives, filed 24 patent claims, and managed the company's rapid growth and expansion throughout the United States.
"We came out with a bang last year and scrambled all year to catch up on our backlog of demand for PatientPad," commented Ibbotson. "Our primary focus this year has been moving to the iPad platform, which didn't exist when we created the original business plan for PatientPad, and putting the infrastructure in place to scale more rapidly in 2013. It's taken a lot of hard work, but our company is now well equipped to handle the explosive growth we expect to see over the next few years as physicians accelerate their conversion from paper to electronic health records."
In addition to his professional responsibilities, Andrew is an active member of the Atlanta technology community. He sits on the Board of Directors for Venture Atlanta and regularly speaks at events throughout the country to promote innovation and entrepreneurship. Andrew also volunteers as a mentor to students and first-time entrepreneurs through various organizations including Georgia Tech and the nationally recognized Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC) science and technology incubator.
As an ATDC Customer Connect coach, Andrew leads founders of concept stage startups through a concentrated five week program to help them begin interacting with customers early in the development of their company. He mentors undergraduate students through groups like the Georgia Tech Executive Roundtable and regularly shares his experiences as a technology entrepreneur with MBA students at Georgia Tech and Emory. Andrew is also a founding member of the Georgia Tech Business Network and a past member of its Board of Directors.
Earlier this year, Andrew was named 2012 "Business Person of the Year" by the Metro Atlanta Chamber and 2012 "Entrepreneur of the Year" at TiECON Southeast for his considerable accomplishments as an early stage entrepreneur. He is also in the running for this year's "Mobile Marketer of the Year" award to be announced next week at the 2012 Tech Marketing Awards.
