The American Football Coaches Awards "Cameo with the Coaches" Sweepstakes presented by Amway, gives fans a once-in-a-life experience to attend the show, a celebration of the 2017-2018 football season that presents several prestigious awards, including the AFCA FBS National Coach of the Year. The one and a half-hour live show will air on USA TODAY Sports Facebook page at 8 p.m. EST from the Crown Ballroom of the Charlotte Convention Center. The green carpet pre-show event will take place at the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
"This awards ceremony has always been a private event with just the coaches, their families and peers, but for the second year in a row, we thought we should celebrate their successes with the fans too," said AFCA Executive Director Todd Berry. "Sharing this special ceremony on television will offer a unique experience and allow fans at home the opportunity to see and hear from our coaches in a setting completely different from the sidelines."
The grand prize for one lucky fan and a guest is a trip to Charlotte, NC, including airfare, accommodations and VIP credentials to the awards show, as well as participation in event festivities, such as walking on the football-themed green carpet and starring in a cameo with the coaches during the show's live broadcast.
"This is a great year to showcase our association with the AFCA and highlight so many inspired coaching performances this season," said Jim Ayres, Managing Director of Amway North America. "We thought it would be fun to have a fan walk inside the ropes of the green carpet and then star in their own cameo with the coaches during the show."
