Many of the essential amino acids found in NUTRILITE's previous version of Protein Powder came from dairy. The new all-plant formula was inspired by Nutrilite founder Carl Rehnborg's observation in the early 1900s that the healthiest cows ate a diet of alfalfa and water. They had shinier coats, produced the most milk, and gained the most weight. He studied the nutritional makeup of the green leafy vegetables that the cows were eating and began to understand how important they were to the diet.
Today, Nutrilite scientists have expanded on Rehnborg's observation by going back to the natural source, creating a plant-based protein powder that provides all of the essential amino acids people need in their diets to maintain cellular health throughout their body. This simple idea resulted in NUTRILITE™ All Plant Protein Powder. The new field-fresh formula is entirely plant based, so it's vegetarian friendly. It's also lactose free for those who can't handle dairy and is cholesterol free and low in fat for a healthy diet.
"As one of the macronutrient foundations of a balanced diet, protein needs to be consumed each day to maintain health," said Gene Maly, Senior Nutrilite Research Scientist. "Most people have difficulty consuming the recommended amount in their diet, which is why adding a high quality protein source helps them fuel their bodies and boost energy."
Research shows that the majority of people do not consume the recommended daily amount of fruits and vegetables, depriving their bodies of important building blocks for health. The human body does not produce nine of the essential amino acids found in protein, so it needs to be replenished daily. Protein deficiencies can lead to muscle weakness, impaired immunity, lack of energy, and blood and hormonal disorders. For those requiring more protein in their daily diet, supplementation plays an important role in filling the gaps.
