BUENA PARK, Calif., Nov. 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- With the addition of three new members to its Scientific Advisory Board, the Nutrilite Health Institute of Amway is gaining expertise in the areas of healthy aging, weight management and traditional Indian medicine.
The three new Board members are:

Dr. Willcox brings a focus on healthy aging, longevity, nutrition, genetics, clinical research and epidemiology. He is principal investigator of the NIH-funded Kuakini Hawaii Lifespan and Healthspan studies and co-principal investigator of the Okinawa Centenarian Study. He is widely published in the genetic, environmental and clinical aspects of healthy aging and is on the editorial board of the Journals of Gerontology. Dr. Willcox is also author of the New York Times best-selling book on healthy aging, The Okinawa Program.
Dr. Ravussin specializes in weight management, metabolism and biometric assessment. He is an internationally recognized translational investigator in obesity and diabetes research. He studies the molecular basis of obesity and its coexistence with other chronic conditions. His latest focus is the impact of calorie restriction on human biomarkers of aging and longevity. Dr. Ravussin has published more than 450 peer-reviewed papers in numerous scientific journals.
Dr. Venkatasubramanian is an expert in microbiology, biochemistry and the translation of Ayurveda into contemporary applications. She was key in establishing the Research and Development Center at her university, where they are using transdisciplinary tools to make India's traditional health knowledge contemporary. She developed and holds a patent on a field diagnostic kit to authenticate medicinal plants. She also developed 25 contemporary nutraceutical & cosmeceutical products, including herbal drinks and soups and Ayurvedic cookies. Her work and leadership in new transdisciplinary approaches resulted in several research publications and recognition.
