ST. HELENA, Calif., Sept. 13, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Sutter Home Family Vineyards today crowned Sarah Broomer of Culver City, CA, the Grand Prize Winner of its annual Build a Better Burger® Recipe Contest, an American institution since 1990. The winning recipe dazzled the esteemed panel of culinary judges with its spice-infused burger and Peanut Coconut Sambal Sauce. Broomer earned undisputable bragging rights and a $25,000 grand prize. "We had a little girl on Friday born nearly 8 lbs., I'm sure in part due to the necessary "testing" of the burger! It's been a wonderful weekend for our family," said Broomer.
The 26th Annual Sutter Home Build a Better Burger® Recipe Contest featured fresh variations on an American classic, with Asian spices, Middle-Eastern touches and a hint of smoke taking center stage. Five finalists were selected from scores of submissions, and each of the four runner-ups received a $1,000 prize from Sutter Home Family Vineyards.
"I especially appreciated the Indonesian Satay Burger, because I've been to Indonesia and I'm familiar with the local flavors," said contest judge Paul Lowe, food stylist and editor-in-chief of Sweet Paul Magazine. "This tasty burger had so many different textures. I really loved the shrimp chips on top and the pairing with Sutter Home Gewürztraminer was perfect."

About Sutter Home
When the Trinchero family bought the Sutter Home Winery in 1948, they had vision, passion and a keen insight into consumer tastes. In the early 1970s, Sutter Home revolutionized the way Americans enjoyed wine when it created the first-ever White Zinfandel, introducing a new, sweeter style of wine—along with several other crowd-pleasing varietals—at an affordable price. By the 1980s and 1990s, Sutter Home became a household name as the second largest independent, family-run winery in the United States. In 2005, the winery was the first to produce the groundbreaking single-serve, 187ml package in light-weight plastic bottles. Today, Sutter Home continues to reflect the evolution of its consumers, offering more than 20 different varietals. For more information visit www.SutterHome.com.
