TALLAHASSEE, Fla., Feb. 24, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The American Competitiveness Alliance (ACAlliance), a leader in advancing immigration reform aimed at strengthening our modernizing economy, is hosting a roundtable forum in Florida's capital on Tuesday, March 1 at the Doubletree Conference Center. The event will unveil results from a new national poll that surveyed hundreds of business owners and managers on the impact of skilled immigration on job growth.
Speakers will include former U.S. Treasurer Rosario Marin, Cato Institute Analyst Alex Nowrasteh, and a panel of distinguished economics and immigration policy expert from both the public and private sectors. The event is open to media and the public.
"It's past time we start talking about immigration reform in the context of job creation and economic growth," said Marin. "Skilled immigrants play a critical role in small business expansion and new business creation. We graduate hundreds of thousands of foreign-born students each year, but our dysfunctional system forces them abroad where they go to work for our competitors. We live in a globalized economy now, but our immigration policies don't reflect that reality and our economy pays the price."
The forum will explore how immigration reform policies can create more and better-paying jobs for Floridians. Speakers and panelists will address how our knowledge-based economy relies on the talent of highly-educated, skilled workers from around the world to ensure that American companies have the talent they need to remain competitive in the global market.
