Amcham South China Leads 400+ Executives to Xiamen in Search of Investments
Award-winning delegation reports record-breaking attendance
XIAMEN, China, Sept. 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The award-winning American Chamber of Commerce in South China (AmCham South China) delegation to the China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) arrived in Xiamen yesterday in record-breaking numbers. Since earning a "CIFIT Great Contribution" award from Vice Premier Wu Yi in 2006, the 12-year-old delegation has grown considerably and has, each consecutive year, continued to smash its own records for delegation size and investment volume.
This year's group, again led by AmCham South China President Harley Seyedin, includes nearly 400 individuals, approximately 200 of whom have come from the United States to exhibit at the show's U.S.A. Pavilion. Since 2010, the delegation has consistently signed deals at the fair worth more than $2 billion; this year Mr. Seyedin anticipates topping $2.5 billion in investment volume over three days.
That pavilion, once again organized by AmCham South China, will this year exceed 750 square meters in floor area and will bring an unprecedented number of U.S.-based opportunities for savvy local investors and companies looking to expand their activities abroad. The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony of the U.S.A. Pavilion will be held at 9:50am at Hall C of the Exhibition Center on the morning of September 8.
President Harley Seyedin also announced at the press conference a major tourism project designed by renowned American architect Chris Wong, a member of AmCham South China, and funded by an American consortium led by him. The project is located in the remote countryside of Yongding County, Fujian Province, which is about three hours' drive from Xiamen. This project will help the development of the underdeveloped region and is expected to create thousands of local jobs.
Over the fair's three days of activities the delegation will also meet with senior leaders from across the nation, including provincial-level representatives from Fujian, Hunan, and the Chong Qing state-level municipality.
Finally, the group will host its annual CIFIT Cocktail Reception on the evening of September 8, this year for the first time ever at the stately Revolving Club on the 36th floor of Xiamen Top Plaza.
