Alticast Partners with S&T to Deliver Dynamic ETV Social RFI Campaigns at the CableLabs Winter Conference
DENVER, March 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Alticast, a worldwide leader in deployed interactive television solutions, announced today it has partnered with streaming technology specialists Strategy & Technology (S&T) to demonstrate the delivery of dynamic Social RFI campaigns to EBIF™ enabled set top boxes. The demonstration, which uses Alticast's altiConnect™ Social RFI system integrated with the S&T TSBroadcaster is on display at the CableLabs® Winter Conference, in Atlanta, GA from Feb. 27 - March 2.
The altiConnect Social RFI system includes all of the campaign management and headend management server tools needed for content programmers and cable operators to deploy simple, one-click Facebook, Twitter and Foursquare campaigns that allow subscribers to connect with the content and brands they like from their EBIF-enabled set top box on today's cable networks.
To ensure altiConnect Social RFI campaigns can reach the widest number of EBIF-enabled set-top boxes, Alticast has partnered with S&T to integrate the altiConnect headend management server with S&T's TSBroadcaster® in order to automate the application loading process and dynamically update the EBIF application template on the set top box using S&T's stream event tools.
Through this partnership, content programmers and cable operators now can efficiently distribute multiple Facebook, Twitter and Foursquare campaigns by updating small amounts of campaign event metadata for a single EBIF application instead of distributing multiple fully-loaded EBIF applications on the network. This solution gives cable operators the real-world tools they need to manage their network bandwidth and deliver reliable applications experiences that engage and reward their subscribers.
"The altiConnect Social RFI system extends the power of simple social connections to the living room by leveraging the millions of deployed EBIF platforms on today's cable networks," said Jeff Bonin, SVP Business Development and Marketing, Alticast. "We are excited to be collaborating with the great team at S&T on this demonstration. S&T has extensive experience with the creation and distribution of interactive TV content and this demonstration shows both companies' commitment to building solutions for the real world."
"S&T is proud to be working with Alticast in bringing about this integration of social networking and cable interactivity. Alticast's talented engineers are great partners for our North American team, and we hope that together we can bring these innovations to a large community of U.S. cable customers," said S&T's Managing Director David Cutts.
