MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Jan. 4, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- AirTight® Networks, the leading provider of wireless intrusion prevention (WIPS) and Wi-Fi access products and services, today announced that its SpectraGuard® Enterprise WIPS passed the Test Integration Council (TIC) tests for inclusion on the Defense Information Systems Agency Unified Capabilities Approved Products List, DISA UC APL. The DISA UC APL is the single consolidated list of products that have completed interoperability (IO) and information assurance (IA) certification. Use of the DoD UC APL allows DoD components to purchase and operate UC systems over all DoD network infrastructures.

The APL is the only listing of equipment by DoD to be fielded in DoD networks. DoD components are required to fulfill their system needs by only purchasing APL listed products, providing one of the listed products meets their needs. This means the APL must be consulted prior to purchasing a system or product.
AirTight also announced this week that its flagship product, SpectraGuard® Enterprise, achieved FIPS 140-2 validation from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) of the United States and the Communications Security Establishment of Canada (CSEC). (See press release issued January 3, 2012.)
"AirTight is proud to offer security products which meet and exceed the stringent requirements set by the DoD to protect government networks from both malicious and inadvertent wireless breaches," said Dr. Hemant Chaskar, Vice President of Technology at AirTight. "AirTight's products are deployed worldwide in many of the most security sensitive United States government and defense organizations to assure security and compliance with requirements such as DoD 8420.01, FISMA and guidelines from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)."
AirTight offers the most complete wireless policy management and enforcement solutions to both Wi-Fi and no Wi-Fi agency networks. AirTight products are always kept up-to-date with certifications such as FIPS 140-2, Common Criteria and DISA; allowing government and defense agencies to take advantage of powerful wireless security technology.
"Although the standards were developed to assure that government agencies and those who provide technology to those agencies met the highest standards for security, it is becoming increasingly common for many non-government enterprises to ensure that they deploy robust products in their IT infrastructure. AirTight's validation with the above certifications provides solid proof of the security robustness of its product," continued Dr. Chaskar.
