The presentation will walk attendees through the secure wireless lifecycle implementation, including protection from BYOD, to illustrate how a corporate-wide wireless security policy can be developed and enforced so that its implementation is not a clampdown, but instead makes wireless access meaningful and scalable taking into account the evolving needs of large mobile workforces. The session is scheduled for Wednesday, April 25, at 15:20.
Bhagwat will also cover the problems which can arise without a well-defined corporate wireless security policy, for instance:
- Accidental misuse of wireless (e.g., using Rogue APs) on enterprise premises that jeopardizes network security;
- Threats from uncontrolled BYOD with employees using their personal Wi-Fi smartphones and tablets to access enterprise network and sensitive data;
- Deliberate misuse of wireless to bypass conventional security measures such as firewall and NAC (e.g., using Windows 7 Virtual Wi-Fi to share enterprise network access with outsiders); and
- An employee laptop getting compromised on the road over wireless.
