Agency New Business Survey Shows Opportunity to Improve Inbound Results
CINCINNATI, Jan 27, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- RSW/US, the nation's leading outsourced lead generation and business development firm for marketing agencies, sees opportunity for agencies to strengthen the effectiveness of their inbound marketing efforts.
In its recently released 2015 New Year Outlook Report, RSW/US asked the question: "Do you use inbound marketing tactics to support your agency's new business development efforts?"
Of the agencies who responded, 76% indicated they are using some form of inbound.
Yet only 25% of these agencies find inbound effective in winning new business.
RSW/US Owner Mark Sneider states, "This is the result of a 'build it and they will come approach' to inbound. Many consultants out there lead you to believe that simply creating content will magically generate qualified leads that convert quickly to new business wins. Unfortunately, having an inbound program does not mean agencies can take a passive approach to new business. It's not that simple."
Sneider sees the growth of RSW/US, founded in 2005, as a case study for successful deployment of inbound tactics. Annual growth rates of 15-20% for RSW/US are attributable to four key factors that agencies should embrace:
- Consistency. Develop new content each week.
- Value-added messaging. Create content that is insightful and helpful.
- Activation. Push content out through email campaigns, social media, webinars, and press releases.
- Integrate with Outbound. Inbound alone won't achieve desired results. Complement it with outbound tactics including phone calls, emails, mailings, and social media connections.
Despite the lower levels of effectiveness of inbound for marketing agencies, there are positives. A year ago, only 18% of agencies founding inbound effective, versus 25% this year.
