AgeCheq and Community Sift Join Forces to Offer Content Moderation and COPPA Compliance to Child-Focused App and Website Publishers
Mind Candy's PopJam already onboard
YORK, Pa., Feb. 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, AgeCheq (www.AgeCheq.com) and Community Sift (http://www.CommunitySift.com) announced their partnership, offering a complete set of tools for content moderation and COPPA compliance to publishers of websites, mobile apps and games. By working together, AgeCheq and Community Sift have combined their "best of breed" services to create a simple packaged solution to what has been a very complicated problem for publishers requiring COPPA compliance.
As social games and websites increasingly allow users to post photos, drawings, recordings and text messages, compliance and moderation have become important requirements for publishers. In the U.S., any app or site that accepts or captures content from a child under 13 is required under the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) to get a parent's prior approval before the child can use it. Community Sift and AgeCheq have developed elegant, high performance cloud-based solutions to issues, each capable of handling billions of messages and app starts per day.
Leading game publishers are already using this technology. At the Family Online Safety Institute's annual conference, Rebecca Newton, chief community and safety officer at Mind Candy (publishers of the wildly successful Moshi Monsters, which has over 80 million users worldwide) announced that Mind Candy will be using both Community Sift and AgeCheq for the U.S. launch of its new PopJam app. PopJam has been a huge success in the UK since its launch in July 2014, and has been called a creative, inspiring "Instagram for Kids."
"We use Community Sift for our UK PopJam app and have complete confidence in the Sift tools and team," said Rebecca Newton. "We very much look forward to working with AgeCheq to insure COPPA compliance when we launch PopJam in the U.S. later this year. Both teams have been professional, reliable and stellar every step of the way."
"We are delighted to be partnering with Community Sift to provide truly effective tools that help publishers protect child online safety," said AgeCheq CEO, Roy Smith. "We believe each of our companies have built the very best technology for solving the knotty moderation and compliance problems that have plagued the online and mobile worlds since the first dial-up bulletin boards in the 80's. The integrated solution we are providing will be very compelling to any publisher with any user interaction or audience that includes children under 13 years old."
"We're excited to work with AgeCheq," said Chris Priebe, CEO of Two Hat Security, developer of Community Sift. "There is a perceived complexity to being COPPA compliant and AgeCheq is taking that very complex problem and making it simpler. Our goals align in that we want to help publishers responsibly care for their young communities and through this partnership, we are confident that our complementary offerings will provide great value to our shared clients."
AgeCheq and Community Sift will be exhibiting their moderation and compliance services at booth 1844 of the 2015 Game Developer's Conference (GDC) on March 4-5-6 at Moscone Center in San Francisco. More information is available at www.agecheq.com and www.communitysift.com.

About Community Sift & Two Hat Security
Two Hat Security is the developer of Community Sift, which redefines the way filtering and moderation works. Rather than simply saying a piece of content (word, phrase or image) is good or bad, Community Sift looks at the risk of the word and the trust level of the user. Using sophisticated algorithms and well-trained automation; Community Sift finds what's important and then can filter it, escalate it or use it to help identify the most engaged members of your community.
