COLUMBUS, Ga., Aug. 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Aflac, the company that pays cash benefits to policyholders fast when they are sick or hurt, unveiled a new television commercial today called "Spicy." The 30-second ad features the renowned Aflac Duck and charismatic television star and chef, Guy Fieri, grilling up a new message to educate consumers about Aflac and its products. Fieri, the extroverted host of NBC's Minute to Win It and Food Network's Guy's Big Bite and Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, explains in 10 seconds how Aflac pays policyholders cash for the things that major medical insurance doesn't cover, like rent, car payments and groceries.
"As Americans transition from summer barbeques to football tailgates, 'Spicy' serves up the right message at the right time," Aflac Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Jeff Charney said. "Guy Fieri is on fire; he's relevant, and he has the charisma to educate consumers about Aflac and our products while sharing the screen with one of the world's most popular icons — the Aflac Duck."
In "Spicy," Fieri is seen grilling kabobs while helping define Aflac's products by explaining how the company helps protect policyholders when they have encountered an unexpected accident or illness. When the impetuous Aflac Duck sneaks a red-hot pepper from the grill he gets more than he bargained for as chaos ensues.
"Working with the Aflac Duck to tell America how Aflac pays policyholders fast is enough to make anyone's hair stand up," Fieri joked. "But this commercial has a serious message about how Aflac policies can be a key ingredient to anyone's financial plan."
"Spicy" is the 51st television commercial starring the Aflac Duck and will air through November 2010. It will debut August 16 on various broadcast and cable television networks.
