COLUMBUS, Ga., Nov. 29, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Aflac, the number one provider of supplemental insurance in the United States, is teaming with SheSpeaks, a leading online influencer with more than 250,000 members, to host a Twitter party on Thursday, November 29, at 9 p.m. Eastern time. Party attendees are invited to use the hashtag #aflackids, to help raise funding for childhood cancer treatment and research. Selected participants could win one of several prizes, including a $250 gift card.
The Twitter party will feature Monica Sandoval, a 17-year-old leukemia patient at the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and designer of the 2012 Aflac Holiday Duck. Dr. Leslie Kean, Director of the Bone Marrow Transplant program at the Aflac Cancer Center will also be on hand to discuss the latest developments in childhood cancer treatment and research.
Monica is the first patient to ever design the annual Holiday Duck, which can be purchased at Macy's and online at Aflacholidayduck.com, with all of the net proceeds going to the nearest participating hospital to where the duck is purchased. Since 2001, the Aflac Holiday Duck program has raised $3 million for children's cancer facilities across the nation. In addition to promoting the Holiday Duck, Aflac will also donate $2 to the Aflac Cancer Center for every tweet or retweet that uses the hashtag #aflackids.
