AFCEA's Homeland Security Conference Confirms Admiral Thad Allen, USCG (Ret.) as a Keynote Speaker
Conference is the Premier Homeland Security IT Event in Washington, D.C. Area
FAIRFAX, Va., Feb. 11, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- AFCEA is pleased to announce ADM Thad Allen, USCG (Ret.) as a Keynote Speaker at AFCEA's tenth annual Homeland Security Conference, "Working Together Today for a More Secure Tomorrow." The conference returns to the Ronald Reagan International Trade Center, Washington, D.C., February 22-24, 2011. Attendees include government and industry IT professionals, CIOs, and program managers involved in operations, policy and procurement.
ADM Thad Allen, USCG (Ret.), is former Commandant of the Coast Guard; Senior Fellow, RAND Corporation; Distinguished Professor of Practice, The George Washington University Trachtenberg School of Public Policy and Public Administration. He is also the 2011 winner of the AFCEA Homeland Security Leadership award, and will kick off the last day of the conference as the keynote speaker.
Conference panel sessions will cover identity management, interagency collaboration, secure information-sharing, border security, and person-centric screening. In addition, sessions will concentrate on critical cyber and homeland security cross-over issues, including situational awareness, training and education, and privacy and security conflicts. Panelists include federal, state and local government officials as well as industry experts.
The Technology Showcase, with more than 80 exhibits, highlights the latest homeland security technologies, including communications equipment, emergency response systems, network and information security, and more. Exhibitors will display products and solutions for law enforcement, federal government, military, and commercial applications.
As a new feature this year, on Tuesday, February 22, U.S. Customs and Border Protection will host an industry day at the Conference. Sessions will focus on current and proposed initiatives and industry opportunities. Additionally, the Conference will include several roundtables this year, focusing on Chief Information Officers, Procurement Executives, and Collaboration when Disaster Strikes.
