NEW YORK and SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 15, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- AFAR Media today announced a new consumer platform, exclusively presented by the Aruba Tourism Authority, that will explore the correlation between travel and happiness. To better understand the role that travel plays in an individual's happiness level, AFAR will conduct an in-depth survey that invites consumers to answer a series of questions about happiness and travel and to share their happiest travel memories.
"Happiness is having its zeitgeist right now," said Julia Cosgrove, AFAR Media Vice President and Editor in Chief. "At AFAR, we believe that travel is a key component to a happy, fulfilled life. With the launch of the Travel Happiness Survey, we are directly engaging with consumers to better understand the impact of travel on their daily lives, and to uncover how travel shapes their notion of happiness. And, as AFAR celebrates our 10th Anniversary in 2019, we'll be revealing these findings in our first-ever Happiness Issue."
Consumers who participate in AFAR and Aruba's Travel Happiness Survey will be entered for the chance to win a trip for two to One Happy Island, Aruba. AFAR will also select three personal, traveler-submitted stories to bring to life in a new animated video series. The videos, inspired by what happiness means to consumers, will roll out during the month of August on AFAR.com, leading up to the release of the survey results in AFAR's September/October Happiness Issue.
"We're thrilled to once again partner with the travel experts at AFAR, on a truly ground-breaking and multi-faceted initiative," said Ronella Tjin Asjoe-Croes, CEO of the Aruba Tourism Authority. "Our values and mission align—bringing people authentic travel experiences that connect with their sense of wanderlust and make them happy."
AFAR's partnership with the Aruba Tourism Authority came to fruition when the tourism bureau approached the media company asking to co-create a unique, interactive campaign that engages travelers in a more meaningful way.
"Our aim is to enrich the lives of our audience through travel," said Ellen Asmodeo-Giglio, Chief Revenue Officer of AFAR Media. "AFAR recognizes the synergies with the Aruba Tourism Authority and through this partnership will continue to show the rest of the world how travel is conducive to happiness."

About Aruba:
As one of the most revisited destinations in the Caribbean, Aruba—One Happy Island — is an island of contradictions, where pristine turquoise waters collide against the desert-like terrain of the north shore; where peace and relaxation coexist with wild and rugged adventures; where Dutch influence meets American ease; and where a diverse history parallels a bright future. Nestled in the southern Caribbean outside the fringes of the hurricane belt, the island is just a two-and-a-half-hour flight from Miami, and a four-hour flight from New York City and boasts year-round cooling trade winds with an average 82-degree temperature. Aruba offers beach-lovers, adrenaline junkies, relaxation-seekers, and everyone in between a slice of paradise with breathtaking beaches, a booming culinary scene of over 300 restaurants with 25+ located ideally on the water, world-famous festivals and events, exciting land and water activities, art galleries and museums, sumptuous spas, championship golf, exclusive shopping, and signature experiences such as cooling off in Conchi, Aruba's natural pool—accessible only by foot or off-road vehicle. With all-inclusive options, boutique properties in charming Eagle Beach, high-rise branded resorts in Palm Beach, and cosmopolitan city hotels in Oranjestad, the island of contradictions provides the perfect getaway for both first-time guests and loyal visitors. As the most "digitally-savvy destination in the Caribbean" and recipient of numerous Adrian awards, including a Platinum in 2015, Aruba has long been recognized as a leader in innovation and creativity.
