What consumers should do
What Health Canada is doing:
Following a seizure of a shipment of "Stiff Rock" at the border, Departmental testing identified sildenafil, aminotadalafil and hydroxythiohomosildenafil. As a result, Health Canada seized additional units of "Stiff Rock" from the importer, Boutique Érotique 5ieme avenue (also known as Boutique Érotique Liberté). Should additional lots be identified, Health Canada will take appropriate action and inform Canadians.
Background:
Products containing sildenafil should only be used under the supervision of a healthcare practitioner. Sildenafil should never be used by individuals taking any kind of nitrate drug (e.g. nitroglycerine) as it can cause potentially life-threatening low blood pressure. Individuals with heart problems including high blood pressure, a history of heart attack, stroke, abnormal heart beat or chest pain, are at higher risk of cardiovascular side effects. Other possible side effects of using sildenafil include headache, facial flushing, indigestion, dizziness, abnormal vision and hearing loss.
Hydroxythiohomosildenafil is a substance similar to sildenafil, and may pose similar health risks.
Aminotadalafil is a substance similar to tadalafil, a prescription drug used to treat erectile dysfunction and may pose similar health risks.
