ADA & Associates Finalizes Tri-National Partnerships With Toronto's Ambition Talent and London's BWH
London Gangster Film, To Be Shot in September, Among Slate of Productions in Development
LOS ANGELES, June 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Only a few months after dissolving his production partnership with Stephen Baldwin, veteran Hollywood manager and executive Alex D'Andrea has finalized two new pacts, with both Ambition Talent/David Ritchie in Toronto and BWH/Joe Hutton in London, which create an entertainment triad with global reach for his recently established L.A.-based firm, ADA & Associates Management & Productions.
ADA & Associates currently manages BAFTA-nominated British director Gillies MacKinnon (Hideous Kinky, A Simple Twist of Fate), Cesar-nominated French actress Clotilde Courau (Le Petit Criminel, La Vie en Rose) and American actors Jacob Young (The Girl Next Door), Anthony DeBaeck (The Wolfman, The Queen) and Jordan Matthews (making his film debut in Fading of the Cries), among other clients. Now ADA will also be seeking U.S.-based opportunities for such Ambition clients as director Warren Sonoda (5ive Girls, Ham and Cheese), writer Alex Boon ("Babar," "Adventures of Tintin") and actors Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (Final Destination 5), Anand Rajaram (Silent But Deadly) and AJ Vaage ("That's So Weird!"), as well as BWH clients on a client-to-client basis.
"The globalization of the entertainment industry opens up new possibilities for independent management firms to collaborate across multiple territories," stated D'Andrea. "We are excited to partner with BWH in London and Ambition Talent in Toronto to explore ubiquitous opportunities for all of our clients."
Of the partnership, David Ritchie of Ambition Talent stated, "I truly believe that, in the future, ADA and Ambition will become a successful fixture/brand." BWH partner Joe Hutton offered, "We already have had good relationships with managers in Los Angeles for many years, and are looking forward to this new fruitful alliance on a client-to-client basis with ADA & Associates."
Founded in April by D'Andrea, previously with Seven Summits Picture and Management, Edmonds Entertainment Group and Baldwin D'Andrea, ADA & Associates (www.adafilmtv.com) is also guided by its vice president of business affairs and producer Robert Abramoff, head of development Carly Porter, and head of management David Gambale, both of whom worked with D'Andrea over the last ten years.
With the mandate to produce two features, two television projects and a documentary annually, ADA is ramping up a full slate of productions. On the feature side, focusing on projects in the $5 million budget range, films in development include The Wicked, a London gangster film to be shot in September, written and to be directed by Justin Golding (The Gods of Circumstance), and currently being cast by Deborah Aquila; a remake of the 1949 comedy Whiskey Galore, with ADA director client Gillies MacKinnon; Molineaux, the story of a former slave who travels to the UK for a career in boxing, also with Gillies MacKinnon; and Golden Bones, a project based on the New York Times bestselling memoir Golden Bones: An Extraordinary Journey from Hell in Cambodia to a New Life in America by Sichan Siv, former U.S. Ambassador to the UN (ADA is currently exploring the project with A-list writers/directors).
In the realm of television, ADA & Associates is in development on documentary project in association with Adrian Grenier ("Entourage") and his company Reckless Productions. In tandem with WME's scripted reality division and Stone & Company, ADA is developing two U.S.-based reality series for the Crown Prince of Italy, Emanuele Filiberto di Savoia: a yet-untitled fish out of water premise as the Crown Prince moves to America, and "Royal My Wedding," a project for Bravo or E! that follows him helping ordinary couples make their wedding royalty-worthy.
"With Bridesmaids doing well at the box office, weddings being a billion-dollar industry, and the recent nuptials of Prince William and Kate, weddings are on everyone's mind. Who better to help 'royal a wedding' on a week-to-week basis than a royal scion, the Crown Prince of Italy?" said D'Andrea.
D'Andrea, formerly a manager and producer at Seven Summits Picture and Management, spent six years at Edmonds Entertainment Group where, from 2003-09, he served as an executive in charge of film and television projects and a manager.
