ACTS Retirement-Life Communities President and CEO Marvin Mashner Announces Plans to Retire
WEST POINT, Pa., July 2, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- After nearly nine years as President and CEO of ACTS Retirement-Life Communities, Marvin Mashner has announced his plans to retire in June, 2014. Mashner has been with ACTS for 23 years, beginning as Vice President and Treasurer in 1990, and then as President and Chief Operating Officer. During his tenure he has led some of the most dramatic change and growth at ACTS, the largest not-for-profit continuing care retirement community (CCRC) organization in the United States.
"The past 23 years at ACTS have been the most enjoyable and rewarding years of my professional career," said Mashner. "I've had the opportunity to work on a variety of projects that have taken us into the future as we implement new advancements to enhance the lives of our residents. Some of the accomplishments during Mashner's tenure include:
- The expansion of ACTS' ministry that now encompasses 23 CCRCs in eight states,
with more than $1 billion in assets. - Significant campus enhancements and development totaling more than $500 million.
- ACTS' industry-wide leadership for meeting independent standards in financial viability, governance and resident services.
- The establishment of a resident-centered model of care and service delivery that has been recognized as a best practice within the senior care industry.
- The addition of home health and hospice programs at ACTS and in the surrounding community.
- The growth of ACTS Corporate University as a model of excellence for staff development.
Active in the senior care industry at both the state and national level, Mashner also serves on numerous boards dedicated to health and aging services, including LeadingAge, the Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), the International Association for Homes and Services for the Aging (IAHSA), and a local hospital foundation. In 2005, he was selected as a delegate to the White House Conference on Aging, which made recommendations to the President and Congress to help guide national aging policies. He received a lifetime achievement award in 2011 from LeadingAge PA for his contributions to the field of aging services.
