WEST CHESTER, Pa., Dec. 19, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- AccessLex Institute is pleased to announce that Sara J. Berman has been named Director of Programs for Academic and Bar Success, effective January 29, 2018. Ms. Berman will be coming to the AccessLex Center for Legal Education Excellence from Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad College of Law, where she served as Director of Critical Skills and Bar Success Programs.
Ms. Berman has been a Professor of Law since 1998 and has lectured nationwide for bar reviews for more than two decades, preparing students for both substantive and skills portions of bar exams across the country. Now, she will lead AccessLex Institute's efforts to increase academic and bar exam success, particularly among students from underrepresented backgrounds.
"AccessLex has set aggressive organizational objectives through the next decade that include helping to improve and sustain first-time bar passage rates at all law schools," said Christopher P. Chapman, president and chief executive officer of AccessLex Institute. "Having someone of Sara's talent, experience and vision to lead and further shape that initiative gives real weight and potential to those efforts."
Through the work of the Washington, D.C.-based AccessLex Center for Legal Education Excellence, AccessLex Institute advocates for policies that make legal education work better for students and society alike and conducts research on the most critical issues facing legal education today, namely improving access for historically underrepresented students, increasing affordability and strengthening the value of a legal degree.

Ms. Berman received a B.A. in political science and French literature from the University of California, Santa Barbara and a J.D. from the UCLA School of Law. Her publications include Pass the Bar Exam: A Practical Guide to Achieving Academic and Professional Goals and Bar Exam MPT Preparation & Experiential Learning for Law Students: Interactive Performance Test Training and she regularly contributes to The Learning Curve, the official newsletter of the AALS Section on Academic Support.
