Sotic and OpenText Provide New Omni-channel Web Experience for Club Fans
LONDON, March 19, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- OpenText™ (NASDAQ: OTEX, TSX: OTC), a global leader in Enterprise Information Management (EIM), and digital sports agency Sotic, have announced that www.afc.co.uk, the website for Aberdeen Football Club, has seen a surge in visitors since it implemented a new digital platform based on OpenText Experience Suite.
The new features of the website place statistics at the heart of the fan's experience, with live match tracking and in-depth pre-match, post-match and in-game statistics and analysis. The homepage can be updated in real time to deliver a dynamic "match-day" experience, with player profiles updated with news, photographs and individual performance statistics in real time. With 58% of website visitors engaging through mobile devices, it was vital that the website allowed for a seamless, integrated omni-channel experience.
"Exploring a new web content management system that offers a rich and engaging experience for all our fans is important for us," said David Bowman, IT manager at Aberdeen Football Club. "On match days especially, we want to be able to easily share photos across all of our properties in real time and provide up to the minute statistics from Opta, the world's leading sport data company, without having to manually update them ourselves. Thanks to Sotic and OpenText all of these problems are now solved in a single solution."
Using OpenText Experience Suite, the club website was designed by Sotic to provide fans with a more engaging online experience, with a focus on serving content to mobile devices that act as a 'second screen'. Fans are now able to access match statistics via a live data feed on their iPads, Android tablets or smartphones whilst watching games live in a stadium or on TV.
Bowman concludes, "Aberdeen is an ambitious club, both on and off the pitch, and our new digital platform now provides fans with an unparalleled online experience. OpenText is straightforward, accessible and it empowers my IT team to react quickly, share content at scale and synchronize assets with our Twitter and Facebook pages in real time. We now have one of the best sites in Scottish football that matches our ambitions on the pitch. The response from our fans has been really positive."
Roland Mercer, Head of Production at Sotic said, "The IT team at Aberdeen FC are true innovators. The omni-channel OpenText platform utilises their rich library of digital assets, delivering an adaptive customer experience to meet the needs of their fan base. It has been a pleasure collaborating with them to deliver this project and ignite further interest in their club."
