A UNIQUE, VISUALLY STUNNING IPAD APP WINS RAVE REVIEWS ACROSS THE US AND CANADA
Experience the ultimate life story
TORONTO, April 28 /PRNewswire/ - There's no denying that the human face undergoes a remarkable transformation from birth to adulthood to old age. Now, the 0 to 100 iPad app allows you to see this transformation unfold before your eyes, with a single representative for every age.
Following its release on March 17, 2011, the app has seen a steady download rate. Over the past week, since being picked up by media across Canada and the US, including Fast Company's Co.Design and Gizmodo, attention and popularity has skyrocketed. The app has now been featured on the App Store's "What's Hot" and "Staff Favorites" lists in over 70 countries.
The project began as a limited-edition printed book of 101 photographs. The iPad app, designed and developed by Up Inc and featuring portraits by Sandy Nicholson, is a digital exploration of the book's graphic narrative on aging. Beyond the stunning photography, the app includes select video clips of and quotes from the subjects, which "seem to capture the essence of their respective ages with haiku-like perfection" (John Pavlus, Co.Design). The app also features a fun "FaceMaker" function, which divides each portrait into thirds, allowing you to mix and match faces from top, middle and bottom.
From a technical standpoint, this project makes innovative use of the Adobe Digital Publishing Suite, the same tools used to create the groundbreaking iPad editions of Wired, Martha Stewart Living, The New Yorker, Vogue and National Geographic.
