SIMI VALLEY, Calif., Aug. 27, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- As the school year begins, high school students who have struggled to find success in a traditional school setting are taking advantage of tuition-free, public school options at Insight Schools of California to get back on track. But on September 1, these students only have to take a few steps from the breakfast table to their computers at home to log in for their first day of full-time online school and begin their journey toward graduation.
Within Insight Schools of California, experienced California-credentialed teachers and professional school counselors assess where students are academically deficient then work closely with them and their parents to create individualized learning plans that map to each student's unique academic needs, personal interests and college and career goals.
As part of a holistic approach to each student's success, Insight Schools of California also offer a Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) program. The SEL program ensures students are ready to learn by increasing their self-confidence, resilience and interpersonal skills, and is an important part of learning. During the school year, students will also meet in online advisory sessions twice a week to discuss topics that are relevant to their lives. The goal is to build confidence, create a sense of belonging, and equip students with skills to make responsible decisions.
"There are a number of reasons why students may be struggling," explained Melissa Garcia, Director of Insight Schools of California. "They may feel unsafe at school, have learning issues, are turned off by school or missed one too many school days. With dedication from both students and parents and individualized plans through Insight that address their unique circumstances, the first day of school is the first step down the path to a high school diploma."
As California public schools, Insight Schools of California are tuition-free, and offer the award-winning curriculum provided by K12 which meets or exceeds state standards with core and credit recovery courses. The online learning platform uses animations, games, video and effective page layout to engage students and help them master each subject. Insight Schools of California also offer school clubs and in-person activities such as field trips and graduation.
