A Leading UK Fire and Rescue Service Selects ClickSoftware to Cut Costs and Maintain High Service Levels
Shift rostering and planning solution will ensure that the county has fully manned appliances to meet its service obligations whilst reducing administration and operational costs

(Nasdaq: CKSW), the leading provider of automated workforce management and optimization solutions for the service industry, today announced that a county fire and rescue service in the United Kingdom has purchased its shift rostering and planning solution.
The service embarked upon an HR transformation project following a report in 2008 by independent watchdog the Audit Commission which urged UK fire and rescue services to better manage their people in order to achieve efficiency savings and improve frontline services. The fire service in question recognized that optimized workforce management would have the greatest impact on the success of the transformation program. The existing system they used was labor intensive and struggled to efficiently cope with the dynamic nature of work, it would therefore not be capable of delivering the results expected as part of the transformation program.
It was with this in mind that the service selected ClickRoster from workforce management market leader ClickSoftware. The solution will roster thousands of wholetime and retained firefighters by the most cost effective means possible to achieve the mandated operational compliance.
ClickRoster will automatically create the roster for every station and every shift for both wholetime and retained firefighters, allocating individuals to specific roles based on skill requirements and the Watch Managers' decisions.
ClickRoster will, in advance, proactively alert Watch Managers of any potential shortfall in appliance and service coverage. ClickRoster will then identify and recommend relevant resources from neighboring stations that can be contacted and used to cover any shortfall, allowing the service to remedy the situation before a shift begins and before it becomes a problem.
The new system will also improve visibility and control of real-time operations by automatically providing dispatchers with an intuitive graphical view of actual appliance coverage in the field.
Retained Firefighters will have the flexibility to receive and send shift confirmation directly to ClickRoster via SMS. This will save time and money by eliminating the need for individuals to visit their station to confirm their availability or non-availability for work.
