93 Percent of the Medical-Surgical Companies Named to Gartner's 'Healthcare Supply Chain Top 25' Use GHX Technology to Drive Efficiency and Reduce Costs
LOUISVILLE, Colo., Nov. 18, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Thirteen of the 14 medical-surgical organizations named to the 2010 Gartner Healthcare Supply Chain Top 25 list partner with GHX to advance their supply chain strategies, helping them to improve business results. By automating supply chain processes and combining disparate sources of supply chain data into a single, holistic information set, these provider and supplier organizations recognize the connection between supply chain effectiveness and better patient care.
The list, released annually by the IT research and advisory firm, ranks companies on their pursuit of "high-quality patient care at optimal economic cost, which is our definition of 'value' in healthcare," according to Gartner's research report. Among the winners announced on Nov. 17 at the Gartner Healthcare Exchange 2010 in Boston were:
- Owens & Minor
- Johnson & Johnson
- Sisters of Mercy Health System
- Cardinal Health
- BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company)
- Intermountain Healthcare
- Mayo Clinic
- Abbott
- AmerisourceBergen Corporation
- BJC HealthCare
- Boston Scientific
- Fresenius Medical Care
- Alcon
Healthcare organizations are chosen for inclusion on the prestigious list based on quantitative reviews of their supply chain costs and overall productivity and efficiency, as well as a qualitative assessment based on a poll of leading industry and analyst experts.
"We are honored to have achieved this recognition, which is testament to our dedication to transforming our supply chain in partnership with GHX," said Nancy LeMaster, vice president of Supply Chain Operations at BJC HealthCare.
