500 Scouts to Host 7th Annual "Food Drive-Thru" Charity Event
CALABASAS, Calif., Dec. 6, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The 7th Annual "Food Drive-Thru" charity event (a drive-through food drive collection) is set to take place December 8 & 9. The event had been postponed due to the Woolsey fire, and has become even more meaningful to the local Girl Scout & Boy Scout volunteers (kids age 6-17 years old) who staff the event– many of whom were affected by the fire.
The food collection will take place from 9:00am – 4:00pm each day in Calabasas at the Commons parking lot (4799 Commons Way, Calabasas, CA). Over 500 Scouts have volunteered to work the event that collected nearly 55,000 pounds of food in 2017.
The Scout volunteers accept non-perishable food donations, sort the food items, and box them for delivery to the West Valley Food Pantry, where the food is provided to those in need. Since the event's inception in 2012, over 276,300 pounds of food has been collected on behalf of the Pantry.
The beloved community event has attracted many celebrities as well as civic leaders, and is supported by local businesses.
