360fly Partners with Motocross Star Chad Reed to Showcase Life in 360-Degrees
Two-Time Supercross Champ Will Demonstrate the Ground-Breaking Nature of 360fly, Providing Fans an Interactive 360-Degree View of His Life On and Off The Track
PITTSBURGH, May 29, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- 360fly, Inc., the category creator in 360 degree digital video products, today announced professional motocross rider Chad Reed as its newest brand ambassador. The relationship provides Reed with exclusive early access to 360-degree filming capabilities, while providing 360fly with compelling content from one of the world's most decorated and respected motocross athletes. Reed joins a growing 360fly athlete roster that includes Flatland BMX rider Terry Adams, Freestyle Skiier Simon Dumont and Surfer Carissa Moore.
Reed, a global motocross star and champion in both the AMA Supercross and Outdoor Motocross series, has been competing since mountable cameras first entered the sport. After years of utilizing the incumbent industry-leading products, Reed was instantly blown away with 360fly's interactive 360-degree video and game-changing mobile capabilities.
"Before 360fly, there were only single point-of-view cameras available. And after years of using a variety of models, I've found they just can't compare to 360fly's all-seeing single lens," said Reed. "360fly opens the door to a whole new world of possibilities. The innovative quality of its interactive 360-degree video goes without saying. But what may be even more powerful is the fact that editing and sharing is completely mobile. You don't have to get to a computer to download, edit and share the footage. That for me is a total game changer."
In 2003, the Australian rider took Supercross on by storm by winning his 450 debut against the greatest of all time, Ricky Carmichael. He's captured AMA Supercross championships in 2004 and 2008, while also earning the National Outdoor Motocross title in 2009.
"It goes without saying that Chad is an unbelievable athlete, but he also brings a high level of vision and savvy when it comes to action cameras," said Peter Adderton, CEO of 360fly. "Beyond the world-class rider is a true family man. Chad's family-oriented lifestyle aligns with our brand as a general lifestyle camera allowing anyone and everyone to capture life's greatest moments in 360-degrees. We couldn't be more excited to see what he captures with the camera."
In addition to his on-going efforts to develop content, Reed will actively promote 360fly in a variety of ways including public appearances, media interviews, social media activity, and showcasing the brand logo in competition.
360fly is a single-lens camera that introduces an innovative new way to capture the world around you in a 360-degree video format – video that's fully interactive. The advantage of using a single lens is that there's no additional stitching of individual video feeds. Smaller than a baseball, 360fly packs high-quality, 360-degree video into a lightweight, water resistant and rugged design. With 360fly you can capture your world, share to your favorite social media networks and swipe to immerse yourself in video that's almost as good as being there.
In April 2014, 360fly announced a growth capital investment from Catterton, the leading consumer-focused private equity firm. In August 2014, 360fly closed $17.8 Million in Series B round financing, with Qualcomm Ventures joining lead investor Catterton.
