2014 TCS New York City Marathon to Supercharge Global Social Engagement with Zoomph
Zoomph to power social experience throughout iconic race for second straight year, inspiring runners and amplifying worldwide interaction
NEW YORK, Oct. 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Zoomph, the Influencer Engagement Platform, announced today that it is partnering with New York Road Runners (NYRR) to power the social experience of the 2014 TCS New York City Marathon, taking place on November 2. Beyond the inspiring user-generated content that Zoomph powered in event displays along the course in 2013, in 2014, the new frontier is to showcase real-time social-media data: hashtag mentions tallying up-to-the-minute as well as hashtag use per minute, per hour, and even per New York City borough, and usage throughout the country and world. Some of the highlights include:
- Jumbo-sized social displays to inspire runners to meet their goals. This is the second year that the TCS New York City Marathon will feature live, inspirational social posts from Twitter and Instagram across the course. This will enable runners to receive real-time support from friends, families, and loved ones cheering them on from around the globe.
- Geo-targeting in NYC. Zoomph will support engagement by identifying influencers along the race, primarily in the NYC region. By broadcasting the power and reach of the event's hashtag, #TCSNYCMarathon, NYRR will be able to bring fans into the action as they wait for their runners to pass by. Additionally, this initiative aims to fuel friendly competition among the fans and NYC boroughs, encouraging higher levels of social action for bragging rights within each community. For example, will there be more fans in Brooklyn or in Midtown, or will Jill from the Bronx beat Mary from FiDi?
- The TCS New York City Marathon goes global. The TCS New York City Marathon will be the first in the United States to use Zoomph's "real-time geo-targeting technology" to track and curate social engagement, and then display that live content throughout the race. With these insights, NYRR organizers will be able to determine who is using the Marathon's hashtag, #TCSNYCMarathon, and where they are located — measuring the overall level of influence throughout NYC, the United States, and rest of the world.
