2012 AmCham Shanghai HR Fair and Workshop Brings Together Industry Experts and Senior Professionals to Discuss Ways to Tackle China's HR Challenges
SHANGHAI, Aug. 24, 2012 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- The American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai (AmCham Shanghai) held its 2012 Annual HR Fair and Workshop today at the Shanghai World Financial Center. The event drew over 800 senior HR professionals and brought together industry experts and senior HR executives to discuss pressing HR issues facing US companies operating in China ranging from talent recruitment, development and retention to productivity management.
According to AmCham Shanghai's annual business climate survey, HR constraints - the difficulty in hiring, developing and retaining qualified talent - has been among the top business challenges for American companies in China since 2006. The annual event, in its 13th year, is a key initiative of AmCham Shanghai to support its member companies by providing a platform to address these challenges.
Brenda Foster, president of AmCham Shanghai, emphasized the importance of the annual fair. "As American companies continue to expand their operations in China to serve the rapidly growing domestic market and to localize hiring on all levels, the challenge of finding and keeping senior executives and skilled professionals becomes increasingly pronounced especially with increased competition from domestic companies, private or state-owned. Together with our members, we work to channel resources to and share best practices within the American business community here. The annual HR Fair and Workshop provides a platform where top HR services and latest knowledge and management tools are made available for HR professionals to utilize."
At the HR Workshop, industry experts spoke on select topics, including enhancing productivity through effective employee health management, increasing engagement of new generation employees in information age, strategic approaches to HR efficiency, and training and development for managers. Speakers were from leading human resources and management organizations including ADP Business Services (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., CDP Group Ltd., Cigna Global Health Benefits, MSH China and the School of Management of Fudan University. The Fair provided an efficient one-stop shop for attending HR professionals.
