15 Seconds of Fame Acquires Fanthropic
15 Seconds of Fame Will Transform Experiential Charity
LOS ANGELES, Oct. 1, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- 15 Seconds of Fame (15SOF), the revolutionary social media app that uses a proprietary end-to-end tech stack to deliver fans their videoboard and TV broadcast appearances from live events, has acquired Fanthropic, the digital philanthropic community dedicated to harnessing the power and passion of athletes and their fans to raise funds and awareness for worthy causes.
Now, not only will fans be able to keep and share personal video mementos from their favorite events, but they will also have the chance to win epic experiences with the teams, athletes, dignitaries and entertainers they love most.
"We've always sought a way to give back, and Fanthropic provides us a unique opportunity to do so while staying thematically consistent with our mission. Delivering priceless moments is what we do, and now it means so much more because we will memorialize fans' joy and generosity," said Bruce Cohen, Chairman of 15SOF.
Michael Mackey, Chairman of Fanthropic added, "Fanthropic has been working with leagues, teams and players over the past several years to raise funds for their causes, while offering fans once-in-a-lifetime experiences. 15SOF enables us to scale our successful model worldwide. Moreover, donations will now be 100% charity, which is an anomaly in this space." Mackey will join the advisory board of 15SOF.
For future charitable fundraisings, 15SOF will forgo the industry standard 20% commission and instead donate all proceeds to sports and entertainment foundations that partner with 15SOF. The combined company will also provide a first-mover daily platform for fans, athletes and entertainers to give back, and it will offer micro-experiential opportunities, too.
In May, 15SOF won "Best in Mobile Fan Experience" at Sports Business Journal's 11th annual Sport Business Awards. 15SOF has agreements with the NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL, Turner, the Big Ten Network and other entertainment rights holders.
Fanthropic has worked with numerous teams and their charitable organizations, including the Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation, Sixers Youth Foundation, Vegas Golden Knights Foundation, Kings (LA) Care Foundation, American Cancer Society, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Make-A-Wish Int'l, Wounded Warrior Project, among others.
Fans can download the free 15SOF mobile app using the App Store and Google Play, and can view the best fan highlights @15SOF on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
