The conference comprises of 2 days of programming and a pre-conference site visit with leading experts providing solutions to top challenges of the industry such as manpower, machinery, taxation and technological development.
In addition to extensive interactive discussions and insightful presentations, the entire audience will be coming together to write a petition to the government for removal of taxation on purchase precast blocks, thus felicitating industry wide adoption.
Day 1 of the conference will focus entirely on precast, which according to Mr. K. Senou of Larsen & Toubro has a bright future in India, "India is predicted to be facing shortage of 18 million housing by the year 2015. This shortfall is majorly contributed due to the ever increasing demand and supply gap faced by the construction industry from a very long time. Moreover, it is facing minute shortage in skilled labour category over the past years as per the statistics in the current five year plan. To address the issue, mechanization in construction is necessary. Precast technology uses mechanization to deliver the projects as per the planned schedule of work. It is being used in many developed countries of Europe and Asia from decades and has been proved in India as well."
Overall, the conference focuses on ensuring the long life of structures, which has been done successfully on several occasions in the past by Prof. Marco Menegotto, Chairman of Fib Commission on Prefabrication, "The structure standing for the next 100 years does not depends only on its technical durability but also on its let's say usefulness and profitableness durability across such long time span; i.e., if, after a while, it can't meet any more some needs other than structural, it would be for demolition, which implies bigger technical environmental and economic drawbacks. Thus, possible reuse or change of use becomes a key issue, too, where precast structures can play a major role. In fact, thanks to prestressing and high performing materials, structures for flexible use, with larger column-free spaces and smaller elements' cross sections, are easily built and allow for repartitioning the inner room to new use and even for refitting the façades, in rather short time and with little disturbance of the surrounding environment."
In addition to these key experts, Dr. N. V. Nayak, Principal Advisor, Gammon India, S. K. Dharmadhikari, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, Hindustan Construction Company, Raj Pillai, Executive Director, Sobha Developers and Vice President South, Indian Concrete Institute and Bob Van Gils, Director, Van Boxsel Engineering will be participating at the event.
This event features in-depth discussions on techno-managerial challenges faced by project directors, managers and vice presidents, engineering heads and vice presidents, quality heads and consultants in construction companies in Delhi NCR region. Also, there is a pre-conference site visit at Leighton Welspun Site in Noida, which will give practical experience on how to complete your projects on time (Already 40 delegates have registered for the conference and total capacity is 60).
