Black Knight Decoded tells a powerful story about a father (Oyelowo), his daughter (Layla Crawford) and co-conspirator (Pinto) on their quest to decode radio signals transmitted from the Black Knight satellite. As they struggle to respond before the government shuts down their mission, the group rely on support from communities around the world to come together to communicate universal messages of hope, unity and peace.
These global communities were brought to life by consumers who were invited to participate in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity as part of the Pepsi Challenge and the release of the film concludes the 2015 global program. Throughout the year, Pepsi Challenges have been issued on Pepsi social channels, PepsiChallenge.com and via global and local ambassadors. Fans in more than 100 countries have participated in the Pepsi Challenge and the #PepsiChallenge program has generated more than 1.2 million mentions of the hashtag garnering more than 1.4 billion impressions globally.
Thousands of fans across Australia, China, the Czech Republic, India, Mexico, Poland, Romania, Russia, United Arab Emirates, the United States and Vietnam were challenged to create larger-than-life installations that were filmed from cameras on the ground and from UrtheCast's cameras aboard the International Space Station and feature prominently in the film.
As part of the film, Pepsi India created a massive 5,000 sq.m. 'Diya', a symbol of hope, peace and unity. The formation was made on the grounds of New Delhi's Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and was filmed by UrtheCast's proprietary HD video camera as the International Space Station orbits India
