Understanding the lack of opportunities for growth and development that the youth face, Unnati Training Centre with the help of Tesco, provides life skill and high-quality job-oriented training for 50 days. Through 320 hours of residential training and opportunities for job placements, participants are given access to tools and resources which make them self-sustaining and confident individuals capable of making the right choices in life. The training includes data entry, understanding of computer usage, lessons in basic English, retail-centric training and basic induction into technology. In the past, Unnati Training Centre has successfully trained over 16000 youth and has a high placement record.
Sumit Mitra, CEO, Tesco Business Services & Tesco Bengaluru, said, "It is important to give our youth a chance of improving their livelihood and secure a better life. By helping bridge the gap between job requirements in the market and employability, we at Tesco in Bengaluru, believe that every little contribution can make a big difference. This training will help the nation's youth to transform into independent individuals who can be the best that they can be. I feel honored and privileged that we are able to contribute to this change."
These initiatives by Tesco align with the Skill India programme initiated by the Government of India. Youth have been placed in multiple sectors including retail.
Tesco in Bengaluru has focused on touching the lives of the communities it serves. Every little help makes a big difference - it's the value we live by to ensure we serve our customers, colleagues and their communities a little better every day.
