MUMBAI, September 2, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --
Technip India joined hands with NAAM Foundation formed by noted actor Nana Patekar and Makarand Anaspure to address the agony of drought affected farmers from 22 districts in Maharashtra, especially entire Marathwada region, West Vidarbha, districts of Ahmednagar and Solapur. This particular belt has been severely affected by water crisis due to inadequate monsoon since last four decades. This condition has given rise to bankruptcy, illness, family problems, drug and alcoholic addiction and immense poverty amongst farmers due to which many farmers have committed suicide.

In this context, NAAM Foundation was set up in 2015 with an aim to collect the fund through individual, institutional and corporate donations and thereafter, utilizing the fund effectively to build sustainable and progressive society by facilitating development in rural areas by working on different issues like infrastructure, education, employment, food and so on. Technip employees from Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai office have come together to raise a fund of INR 11.82 lakhs which was matched by the Company to donate a cheque of total amount INR 23.64 lakhs as a token of humanitarian gesture to support the good initiatives taken by the Foundation, namely - adoption of villages and river rejuvenation.
In a brief interaction, Nana Patekar claimed his foundation has been able to accomplish significant milestones within a short span of time due to the trust and willingness of common people to help the foundation with their time, money and good wishes. On receiving the cheque, he said,"Corporates should not give us money blindly. People must see our work, question us what we are doing, verify and confirm before you trust and donate further. Raising fund is not difficult but important is to win and retain the trust of commoners that the foundation is doing real work."
Commenting on this, Nikhil Shahane, Technip India HR Director said, "At Technip, we pay particular attention to raise relief and development funds to support socio-economic initiatives and assistance in case of natural disasters affecting underprivileged populations. NAAM is a young foundation but has been doing a commendable job for the farmers and we are pleased to make a small contribution towards the good cause."
R Jayasankaran, COO of Technip Mumbai office particularly mentioned, "The feeling of oneness was at the forefront of our 2700 employees in India as they came forward and voluntarily contributed to the fund raising campaign for the foundation. We tried to extend our help to support the foundation which is taking care of farmers' widows, promoting alternate livelihood by conducting cluster sewing classes, group farming and building houses for the bereaved families of the farmers who committed suicide."
