TATA Interactive Systems to Host TATA Interactive Learning Disability Forum (TLDF) 2011 for 6th Consecutive Year
MUMBAI, November 23, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --
TLDF 2011 will focus on spreading awareness and building capability in Learning Disabilities across Maharashtra
Tata Interactive Systems (TIS), the pioneer and global leader in learning solutions, is hosting TATA Interactive Learning Disability Forum (TLDF) 2011 to sensitize and increase awareness around Learning Disabilities (LD) such as dyslexia, dyscalculia and dysgraphia. This invitation-only workshop will be held in Mumbai from November 25-26, 2011 and will be attended by Heads of educational institutions and medical practitioners from various districts across the state.
In line with TATA Group's corporate sustainability endeavors, TIS initiated TLDF in 2006 to ensure students with special education needs get their required attention as well as spread awareness about LD which had been receiving scant attention in India. Over the past six years through their annual TLDFs, TIS was successful in generating increased level of awareness and enabling progress in remediation activities for students with LD.
Announcing this year's TLDF workshop, Mr. Sanjaya Sharma, CEO, TATA Interactive Systems, said, "We are always committed to the cause of sustainable nation building and it is important we enable and take into consideration the significant number of LD students and empower them to be a part of this. I'm delighted to see that we have been receiving a very positive response for our past TLDFs. Continuing what we began in 2010, this year we extend our efforts to provide in-depth training and guidance to initiate LD clinics and remedial efforts in Maharashtra."
Over the years, the TLDF has grown multi-fold based on the learning from each year's activities and achieved significant milestones in this cause from supporting the first LD Clinic in Mumbai to influencing the introduction of Special Education in the B.Ed and MBBS syllabi in Maharashtra and contributing to a significant rise in the number of students and schools registering for the certification. More recently, TIS has supported the establishment of an LD Clinic at the King Edward Memorial Hospital-marking the third LD clinic in Mumbai. In 2011, NASSCOM judged the LD initiative as an innovative CSR application.
