Every element of the interface was reconsidered for Tableau 10 in order to maximise cognition and let people focus on their visual analysis. The new colour palette has been tuned up to ensure perceptual equality of shapes in complex visualisations and emphasis when needed. A new custom typeface was designed in partnership with the renowned typography expert Tobias Frere-Jones. It was crafted to optimise legibility and elegance for the many types of visualisations that are possible to create in Tableau. New default settings help people use visual design best practices for every question, but always give the option to change format so people have the flexibility to be creative and expressive with their data.

Empowering the Mobile Workforce with Data You Can Touch

Whether you're an executive during an airport layover or a pharmaceutical rep customising visualisations between meetings with doctors, the new improvements and features of Tableau Mobile 10.0 provide a one-tap access to get your real-time data and support multi-device visualisations for the enterprise.

Tableau 10's new Device Designer allows you to create dashboards that automatically render the right size and views for a range of devices, including Android phones. It also gives you the option to further customise views in a single file so you can create several device specific views and just publish once. Offline snapshots refresh in the background while you're connected so the most up-to-date data is always at your fingertips.

Deploying Tableau Mobile across an organisation has gotten easier and more secure. With support for Mobile Device Management platforms, IT can ensure the data remains safe, regardless of which device you are accessing it from.

Bringing Data Together and Providing Deeper Analysis

Cross-database filtering now allows a single filter to be applied to multiple data sources in your workbooks, saving time and getting to the answers faster.

Tableau 10 has a host of new analytics capabilities that make complex analysis more accessible. Drag and drop clustering automatically identifies patterns and group your data based on k-means. The new Custom territories feature allows you to do advanced geographic analysis with a few clicks. The data highlighter makes it easy to call particular insight while keeping the rest of the data visible for context. Improvements to bar charts, maps data, geographic roles and radial distance units make data storytelling more natural and intuitive.

Empowering Everyone to Explore in a Trusted Environment – on the Web and in the Enterprise

Tableau 10 makes it easier to do more on the web, including new ability to create dashboards online. Publishing workbooks and data sources to Tableau Server and Tableau Online is faster with a new flow for publishing. For cloud-based analytics, you can now set a data refresh schedule right in the browser with Tableau Online.

Fostering creativity in your organisation starts with providing IT the tools they need to enable a true self-service and governed environment. We've added easier ways for administrators to manage their Tableau Server deployments. Tableau 10 gives IT visibility into the usage of Tableau Desktop licenses and IT can also control the login experience for multi-tenant deployments with site-specific SAML IdP configuration.

For developers, new APIs have been added to Tableau to enable them to write custom applications that leverage data or to embed business intelligence into virtually any app or website. There are endless opportunities for new integrations with Tableau.
