SPJIMR's PGDM is a two-year full time residential programme that is equivalent to an MBA and is noted for building value-based and socially sensitive leaders. The programme has had a consistent record of superior placements.
The PGDM programme is accredited by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) and the Association of MBAs (AMBA) of UK. In its latest issue (October 5, 2015), the Outlook magazine ranked SPJIMR as the 6th best B-School in India. Business World magazine ranked SPJIMR as the 3rd best business school, while Business Today and MBAUniverse.com have ranked SPJIMR as the 5th best in 2014.
SPJIMR's PGDM has an annual intake of 240 seats for Indian nationals and an additional 36 seats for foreign nationals, Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs) and Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs).
The process for admissions to what will be the Class of 2018 began on September 21, 2015. The last date for applications for Indian nationals is December 7, 2015.
Innovative
In a message to aspirants, Prof. Vasant Sivaraman, Chairperson of the PGDM programme, said: "As a management school, there are certain core aspects of SPJIMR that are reflected in the mission statement, which is making each of our participants a socially sensitive and value-based leader. Towards this end, we seek to enrol the right candidates with the outlook, the attitude, and of course, the academics and scores."
SPJIMR's PGDM is particularly noted for innovative pedagogy including established non-classroom programmes that are being infused with design thinking and growth mindset as also newer initiatives like the Global Fast Track, or the GFT, under which all the participants go for advanced courses in their area of specialisation to top ranked global B-Schools.
Prof. Malay Krishna, Associate Head of the PGDM programme and Chairperson, International Relations at SPJIMR, said: "The GFT is a very unique component, one of the many innovations that our school has implemented in the last couple of years. This three-week three credit course runs in a global top business school that has deep credibility, reputation and competence in the areas of specialisation that our students opt for."
Selection Process
SPJIMR's selection process assesses not only the intellectual readiness in terms of academics but also emotional readiness, extra-curricular activities and aptitude for and befitting the Institute's mission of value-based leadership.
Prof. Bindu Kulkarni, Associate Head of the PGDM programme, said: "We have made the process as easy and simple as possible for aspirants. However, since we closely look at the profile of each candidate before making the shortlists for interviews, aspirants will be well advised to diligently fill in personal details that help us understand the applicant beyond the academic scores and ranks."
Aspirants are required at the application stage itself to opt for two choices of specialisation from the following four offered at SPJIMR's PGDM: Finance, Information Management, Marketing and Operations.
"Naming two options as the first and second preference at this stage means aspirants who are not shortlisted for the first preference maybe considered for the second. The outcome of the first preference will have no bearing on the process for considering the applicant for the second preference," Prof. Kulkarni said.
Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for the PGDM programme, aspirants must have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent (10+2+3) from a recognised university. Students in the final year of graduation can also apply. Applicants must also write CAT 2015, XAT 2016 or GMAT (the GMAT test should be taken from January 2013 onwards to December 30, 2015) and report these scores online as and when they become available.
Work experience is not mandatory for the PGDM programme. Fresh graduates and those with up to five years of work experience can apply.
Aspirants must fill the form on the online admissions portal at https://spjimr-pgdm.formistry.com. An application processing fee of Rs. 1,200 is to be paid online through credit card or net banking on submission of the application form duly filled. No other payment is required to be made at the application stage.
The entire process for the application form is online. The Institute does not accept any paper forms. However, shortlisted candidates will have to attend two rounds of interviews, which are held on the same day, at any one of the following locations chosen by them: Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata or New Delhi in January or February 2016.
